Join us in the heartwarming journey of Jen and Jamie’s extraordinary barn wedding at Old Luxters in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire —a day filled with an abundance of love, sheer joy, and a few heartfelt tears.
Old Luxters Barn near Henley on Thames set the stage for a wedding photographer’s dream. This rustic barn wedding venue was adorned with a breathtaking blend of vibrant flowers and lush greenery, creating an idyllic backdrop for the couple’s special day.
Capturing the morning preparations
Our journey commenced in Henley, where Jen and her bridesmaids readied themselves in a charming AirBnB nestled in the town centre. The room was bathed in natural sunlight from large windows—a secret ingredient for beautiful getting-ready photos. Here’s a tip: designate someone to keep the area tidy; it ensures clean, clutter-free images. Also, choose a room with ample natural light—it’s a game-changer for stunning photographs.
Second photographer magic
Simultaneously, our talented second photographer, Natalie from Natalie Jeffreys Jones Photography, was with the groomsmen at the venue. While second photographers aren’t always a necessity, they shine when there are multiple locations, ensuring every moment unfolds beautifully and tells the story in its entirety.
A moving church ceremony
Jen and Jamie’s church service took place in the picturesque village of Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, just a stone’s throw from the venue. Emotions ran high, with tears of joy flowing as Jen walked down the aisle to her waiting groom, Jamie. Following the heartfelt ceremony, the couple strolled through a confetti tunnel and hopped into their vintage car, ready to embark on the next chapter of their journey.
Unplanned joyful moments at Old Luxters barn wedding venue
While Jen and Jamie took a leisurely drive, their guests made their way from the church to the venue. The couple’s two young boys, driven by their grandfather, couldn’t resist the allure of the magnificent car. Capturing these spontaneous, joyous moments is pure magic—seeing the boys pretend to drive was priceless.
Relaxed and natural couple portraits
After a champagne toast and warm greetings, we ventured down a woodland path near the venue—a spot Jen and Jamie had discovered months earlier. As we emerged from the woods, a breathtaking vista greeted us: rolling Chiltern hills bathed in dappled sunlight. With Natalie capturing venue details and candid guest moments, no memory went unnoticed.
Golden hour bliss
Jen and Jamie added their own twist by cutting the cake before the meal, setting the stage for a relaxed reception. This allowed the barn to undergo a stunning transformation for the evening festivities.
During this time, the couple and I ventured out for some golden hour photos, taking advantage of the unbelievably beautiful location.
We returned for the first dance, kicking off a night of celebration with The Mp3s Band, whose infectious tunes got everyone on their feet.
A heartfelt thanks
Our heartfelt thanks go to Jen, Jamie, their families, and everyone who made this day a true joy to be part of. A special shoutout to Natalie, whose invaluable assistance ensured every moment was beautifully captured, allowing me to focus on the couple.
