Emma and Dan’s evening winter wedding at the Bodleian Library in Oxford was a beautiful occasion. The venue itself is stunning in its own right and, with the additional decorations and lighting, it was incredible!

It was a relatively late start for me, 2pm, for some getting ready shots at The Old Bank Hotel, just across the street from the Bodleian. The suite Emma was getting ready in was gorgeous, and it had its own secret staircase entrance, which I loved. This part of the day can be quite manic, but on this occasion it was very relaxed and full of laughter – perfect! Emma’s Great Gatsby-esque dress was exquisite, perfect for an evening wedding full of dancing and frivolities.

After the calm of the hotel room, walking the few hundred meters across a bustling chilly Oxford to the historic Bodleian Library ready for the ceremony was invigorating. And walking into the venue just wow, what an incredible place to get married in! The ceremony room was magnificent, having hosted many historic moments in the past.

After the ceremony, the reception was held in the quad with canapés and drinks were served by Oxford Fine Dining and it all looked delicious. As the guests were nattering, a few group photos were taken and then as everyone else was led into the venue for food Emma, Dan and I disappeared upstairs into Duke Humphrey’s Library; I couldn’t imagine a more impressive place to take some couple shots.

Emma & Dan entered the Divinity School for dinner to cheers and clapping. The room, which is incredible in its own right, is featured in Harry Potter and had been beautifully lit up by That Event Company Oxford and it was mesmerising! The food that followed was simply delicious; a salmon starter then for main venison. After speeches and cake cutting the party really started, the band – Giulia & The Lizards – were amazing and got everyone going from the moment they started till I am sure long after I left.
