A magical evening at the Bodleian Library

Emma and Dan’s enchanting winter evening wedding at the Bodleian Library in Oxford was nothing short of spectacular. This iconic venue, renowned for its historical grandeur, was transformed into a breathtaking wedding setting with thoughtful decorations and ambient lighting that accentuated its natural beauty.

Pre-wedding excitement

My day began at 2pm with Emma at The Old Bank Hotel, conveniently located just across from the Bodleian Library. The atmosphere in Emma’s suite was one of calm and joy, a delightful contrast to the typical wedding day hustle. Emma’s dress, reminiscent of the Great Gatsby era, promised an evening filled with elegance and dance.

Bodleian Library wedding ceremony

The short walk to the Bodleian Library was brisk and lively, setting the stage for the solemnity and awe of the ceremony ahead. Entering the ceremony room, we were greeted by the sheer magnificence of a venue steeped in history, an ideal backdrop for Emma and Dan’s vows.

Celebration in the Quad

Post-ceremony, the celebration kicked off in the quad with exquisite canapés and drinks catered by Oxford Fine Dining. Amidst the socialising, we captured some memorable group photos. The highlight, however, was stealing away with Emma and Dan to Duke Humphrey’s Library for an intimate photo session. The grandeur of this space provided an unforgettable setting for their couple portraits.

Dinner and dancing

The dinner in the Divinity School was a feast for the senses. The room, already spectacular and known for its appearance in Harry Potter movies, was further enhanced by the elegant lighting from That Event Company Oxford. The meal was a culinary delight, featuring a salmon starter followed by a venison main course. The evening continued with heartfelt speeches, cake cutting, and a lively party led by Giulia & The Lizards, ensuring a vibrant celebration well into the night.
