Hey, we’re Laura and Tom Falkenburg! At the start of March, Falkenburg Photography evolved into The Falkenburgs. This wasn’t just a name change—it was a reflection of how our documentary wedding photography business had grown into a true partnership. While it’s Tom you’ll find behind the camera on wedding days, everything else that makes our business tick is very much a team effort. Laura is the creative mind behind our website and social media, and we both work together on editing, refining, and shaping each couple’s final collection.
Like many modern love stories, ours started on Tinder. Fast forward almost nine years, and we’re now husband and wife, working side by side doing what we love.
Ironically, despite being wedding photographers, we have no professional photos from our own wedding. We originally planned a big celebration, but Covid had other ideas. We opted for a simple registry office ceremony in 2020, intending to throw a party later—but life had other plans, and that party never happened. No photos, no fuss, but a marriage that means everything to us.
These days, life is full with our daughter and our two dogs, Juno and Coco—affectionately nicknamed Big Dog and Little Dog.
Laura originally trained as a primary teacher before transitioning into a creative career, with a passion for photography, styling, and interiors. Meanwhile, Tom’s background is in Fine Art Photography, and he spent years working as a commercial outdoor adventure photographer, collaborating with brands like Cotswold Outdoor, Columbia, Visa UK, and the RNLI. After years of shooting weddings on the side, lockdown was the push he needed to take the leap into documentary wedding photography full-time.
For us, documentary wedding photography is about more than just capturing moments—it’s about telling the story of a wedding day as it truly unfolds. We focus on honest, unfiltered emotions, blending editorial artistry with a natural, unobtrusive approach.
Going into business together was always inevitable—we balance each other out perfectly. Tom is pragmatic and patient, while Laura thrives on details and organisation. But at the heart of everything, we’re both storytellers, drawn to creating documentary wedding photography that feels effortless, emotive, and lasting.
When we’re not photographing weddings, we’re out exploring the countryside, dreaming up future projects, or planning our next adventure.
This new chapter as The Falkenburgs feels like the perfect evolution of everything we’ve built together. We can’t wait to see where it takes us.
