Hey, we’re Laura and Tom Falkenburg! At the beginning of March, Falkenburg Photography was reborn as The Falkenburgs. There was lots of hard work and changes happening behind the scenes leading up to this point, driven by the fact that our little wedding photography business was very much evolving to become a two-man band. We wanted to create a brand that reflected our teamwork and dedicated partnership: and so, The Falkenburgs was born.

Whilst it’s Tom who’ll be with you on your wedding days, everything else that goes into our little business is very much a joint effort: Laura’s our social media and website whizz, and you’ll often find both of us editing images long into the evening.

Our love story started as all good love stories do… on Tinder! We’ve been together almost nine years now, married for two.

Ironically, as wedding photographers, we have no professional photos of our own wedding. We got married in a registry office in October 2020 after Covid scuppered our original plans. We were hoping to have a big party with family and friends the following summer so didn’t bother with a photographer for what, at time we just considered the ‘boring legal bit’. However, we very quickly discovered we were pregnant with our daughter, putting our big wedding plans on indefinite hiatus. So no photos and no party, but we’re very happily married, and that’s all that matters to us.

Our beautiful daughter Mila was born in August 2021. We’re also dog parents to Juno the labrador and Coco the dachshund, affectionately nicknamed Big Dog and Little Dog. Mila is absolutely obsessed with her furry sisters and the three of them are best pals, a fact which makes our hearts melt daily.

As a family, we love being outdoors and can often be found exploring the beautiful countryside on our doorstep. We live in a small Gloucestershire town and can’t ever see ourselves moving very far, although a life by the Cornish sea is very tempting!

With a degree in Fine Art Photography, Tom worked as a commercial outdoor adventure photographer for many years, collaborating with many household names such as Cotswold Outdoors, Columbia, Visa UK and the RNLI. After shooting a number of weddings sporadically throughout this period, it was lockdown that finally gave Tom the push he needed to make the jump to full time wedding photographer.

I, Laura, originally trained as a primary teacher but traded the classroom for life as a freelance creative a few years ago. My greatest passion (aside from photography and weddings, of course) is interior design with an interiors Instagram account that I grew to around 11k followers. I’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect red brick double-fronted period property in the middle of nowhere to transform into the home of our dreams.

It was only a matter of time before Tom and I went into business together; we balance each other out perfectly. Whilst Tom is very pragmatic, laidback and patient, I’m meticulous, a stickler for detail and love a good spreadsheet! We’re both creative in our own ways and have a shared passion for producing beautiful imagery that our couples will treasure for decades to come.
