Who doesn’t love an outdoor wedding! The very nature of them means there is a slightly more relaxed feel, however this doesn’t in any way mean they can’t be stylish and luxe!

Here are 8 ideas for your outdoor or garden wedding!

Garden Games

Garden games are a wonderful way to entertain your guests (young and old!) at an outdoor wedding. The key is finding games that will keep all ages occupied and will create hilarious moments that make perfect photos and memories.

A few favourites include the limbo (this is also one that can be brought indoors onto the dance floor later in the day, often with hilarious results!), giant Jenga which will always gather a crowd as the tower grows and you can’t beat a classic such as boules.

Another great reason to have some garden games is that you can place them strategically to guide your guests to different areas of your outdoor wedding space as needed.

Champagne tower pour

Champagne towers aren’t just for a grand indoor venue. They work perfectly for outdoor weddings, in front of a marquee or maybe just in the middle of the garden as a focal point. They also add that element of luxury and drama that guests will love!

One thing to remember here is to make sure your table is completely stable; any slight wobble might cause a disaster!

And if you’re up for a champagne tower, why not include a champagne spray as well for another fun, slightly dramatic moment that your guests will love.

Creative drinks displays

Keeping with the drinks theme, an outdoor wedding is a great opportunity to have fun and be creative with how your serve your drinks. Whether that be in some vintage tin tubs with some ice and water to keep your bottles chilled or an outdoor bar complete with it’s very own mixologists.

Relaxed outdoor seating areas for your guests

Providing your guests with ample seating areas is key. How you design your seating areas can again really help create the look and vibe you are going for, whether you choose to hire outdoor furniture or go for the rustic look with some hay bales and rugs. Whatever you opt for, don’t forget to add a fire pit or two! Not only do these create a nice focal point, they’re perfect for keeping warm late into the evening and for toasting marshmallows, of course.

Lighting for outdoor weddings

As the day turns to dusk and then to night, lighting is king and can completely transform any outdoor wedding space. A few options to consider are uplighting for trees and buildings, festoon lighting or lining pathways to create an entrance way to your marquee or indoor space. There are lots of great companies that you can rent lighting from and who will also take care of the installation.

Wedding flowers and plants

One of the wonderful things about an outdoor wedding is the abundance of flowers and plants you may already have filling your space, dramatically reducing your need for additional florals. Extra flowers and greenery can be added sparingly as focal points; perhaps a flower arch for your ceremony or small posies to line pathways.

Bring the outside in

Marquees can be quite incredible in their design and come in so many shapes and sizes; picking one to suit your aesthetic is key. A more rustic style wedding would work perfectly with a tipi, but if you wanted something more luxe, a clear roof marquee could look incredible! Whatever option you go for, check the sides can easily be removed and added as on gloriously hot summer’s days these structures can become unbearably hot. Removing a panel or two allows air to flow through the space, keeping everyone ‘chilled’!

Live music

Nothing compliments an outdoor wedding like some live music! During the reception, having a solo guitarist or saxophonist or maybe even a small band perfectly sets the mood.
